+1967 BULOVA Accutron "202"
Railroad Approved
Wristwatch
Introduced in 1960 and officially commercialized in 1961, the Bulova Accutron caliber 214 movement was the first of its kind, marking both Bulova's inaugural electronic movement and the world's first commercially available tuning fork movement. The Accutron 214 was a tremendous success, with over 400,000 units produced by 1968.
Among its many variants, the "Railroad Approved" models were specifically engineered to meet the precise timekeeping requirements mandated by the railroad industry, ensuring reliability for railroad professionals.
Today, we are excited to offer this collectible timepiece: a vintage Bulova Accutron "202" Railroad Approved wristwatch from 1967.
This timepiece features an electronically controlled mechanical movement powered by the Bulova 214 caliber. With 15 jewels and a smooth sweep second hand, the tuning fork movement vibrates at 360 Hz (the standard frequency for all Bulova Accutron movements), driving a 300-tooth index wheel powered by a button-cell battery.
As with all Accutrons, the 214 movement does not have a traditional crown. Instead, it is set using a recessed key located on the back of the watch, adjacent to the battery door. This example is housed in a 34mm stainless steel case with a classic lug design, complemented by a 10KT gold-filled bezel.
The original white dial features large, bold Arabic numerals, clear minute markers, and substantial blue-steel hands, ensuring easy readability. This practical design makes it a perfect reference for railroad use. The dial is signed "Bulova Accutron" at the top and "Railroad Approved" at the bottom.
This wristwatch is presented with a brand-new, genuine black Hadley-Roma leather two-piece strap, completing the look with a modern touch.
In excellent working conditions, this Bulova Accutron Railroad Approved wristwatch is not only an attractive timepiece but also a piece of horological history.

Vintage watches are generally smaller than contemporary models. Men’s watches typically range from 29 to 36mm in width (with some being larger or smaller), excluding the crown. In our listings, we strive to include all relevant dimensions of each watch. If you don’t see a specific measurement or if we’ve overlooked it, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Women’s watches from the 1900s to the 1970s were also significantly smaller than today’s offerings. Feel free to ask any questions regarding size.
We prefer to take photographs outdoors when the weather allows. However, when shooting indoors, please note that we use lightboxes equipped with 360 LED bulbs, which can magnify any flaws that may be less noticeable to the naked eye. That said, we never use Photoshop to alter our images or remove blemishes. While we may adjust the lighting as needed, what you see is what you get, and we take pride in that.
